How It All Began

            Paul Turnage, alias "Popeye," began developing a fresh water bait in 1978 for his Bass Tournament fishing.  With tremendous success, "Popeye" established Popeye’s Bait Company.  He continued developing various baits and lures for the fresh water enthusiast.

            "Popeye" started out at an early age working on all types of fishing vessels (clamming, shrimping, lobstering and dragging) though out New England.

            While pulling his traps on day "Popeye" developed an acute distaste for the intense aroma of the traditional lobster bait.  Over the course of time, through trial and error, "Popeye" has been able to create and perfect a true all natural fish bait known as THE PUCK.  After much field testing "Popeye" has perfected the puck to meet his high standards.

            Since it's small beginnings in 1978, "Popeye" has developed his fresh water bait to an international level, shipping worldwide.  Introducing THE PUCK to trap fishermen has proven to be another success which is continuing to grow with commercial fishermen, Nationwide.
